Statement:
Artist Wally Kaplan works in pastel, oils, watercolor and acrylics. Her subjects are chosen to provoke emotion from the viewer and to draw them into her private world. Her landscapes evoke both place and atmosphere and she uses light, color and composition to bring about an ethereal mood. Her love of nature plays an important role in her paintings and a figure is often present in her landscapes. Influenced by her experiences on a recent African safari, she has created a series called “Dreams of Africa” in which the animals are presented as they appear in her dreams.
